What is IPL?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive light-based technology used to remove unwanted hair and improve many skin conditions. Such conditions as age spots, sun spots, freckles, superficial capillaries and other unsightly discolouration of the skin can be eliminated using this technology. IPL is also incredibly effective for those of us who suffer from facial redness and can even stimulate fibroblast causing increased collagen production in your skin for a more natural, lively, healthier looking you!
IPL Treatments
-
Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooth out irregularities and enhance your skin's overall luminosity for a revitalised, youthful glow with IPL photo rejuvenation. Skin rejuvenation treatments will improve skin tone, texture, refine and refresh the skin by increasing the production of collagen in the skin.
-
IPL acne management targets acne-prone skin to reduce acne bacteria, breakouts and inflammation for a clearer, more balanced and healthier looking complexion. These unique treatments are designed to specifically slow the overall production of oil that leads to acne, thus dramatically reducing the chance of spots and minimising the appearance of pores in general. Results will vary, but most people will see a significant improvement in skin condition. Treatment should be spaced approximately 1 – 2 weeks apart.
-
Spider veins, broken capillaries, red spots and rosacea can all be reduced and removed to offer clients an even, more uniform complexion. Our trained clinicians can offer treatments which will reduce facial blemishes such as red flushing and red spots found on cheeks and around the nose with minimal downtime or risk. A treatment cycle of 4 – 6 treatments spaced two to three weeks apart is usually required to reach your best possible outcome.
-
IPL pigmentation correction effectively fades and removes age spots, sun spots and discolouration to greatly improve overall skin tone, texture and radiance. A doctor’s letter confirming that no skin cancers are present is usually required before commencing your treatment cycle and a series of 4 – 6 treatments spaced 4 week apart are required for optimal results. Treatments areas such as backs of hands, forearms, décolletage and face will respond well.
-
IPL hair removal treatments are easy, painless and quick solution to unwanted hair and can be successfully used on the body or the face. Usually a course of 6 – 8 treatments is required to achieve optimal result, but once you've completed your treatment cycle, you can look forward to a lifetime of smooth skin with only the occasional maintenance treatment. Compare that to the cost and hassle of a lifetime of waxing.
PLEASE READ: All IPL treatments begin with a consultation to assess your concerns and confirm treatment suitability. A complimentary patch test will also be performed to ensure your skin responds safely. The consultation fee is redeemable towards any future treatment booked.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Laser devices generally use a focused wavelength of light, while IPL uses a filtered range of wavelengths. This allows IPL to address several types of visible discolouration, including selected red and brown concerns.
-
Most patients require a course of treatments for optimal results. The number and frequency will depend on your skin, the concern being treated and your response to treatment. Your Dermal Clinician will recommend a personalised treatment plan following your consultation and test patch.
-
Some changes may become visible after the first treatment, with results developing progressively as the skin responds. Pigmented areas may initially darken before gradually flaking or fading, while redness and visible vessels may reduce over time. Individual results vary.
-
Downtime is generally minimal, although temporary redness, warmth or mild swelling can occur. Pigmented spots may darken temporarily before gradually shedding. More pronounced swelling can occasionally occur when treating areas around the eyes or upper cheeks.
-
Yes. Your consultation allows us to assess your skin, medical history, medications, recent sun exposure and treatment goals. A test patch helps us assess your skin’s suitability for IPL and select appropriate settings before proceeding with a full treatment.
