Upper Face Areas

Vertical lines between your eyes which are caused by the glabella muscle contracting. This repeated muscle movement leads to permanent static wrinkles.

Forehead lines are horizontal lines that form through the repetitive use of your eyebrows and in particular lifting your brows. Over time, this frontalis muscle can cause these dynamic lines to form permanent lines.

Most obvious when we do a cheesy smile. These lines appear on the outside corners of the eyes. The orbicularis oculi muscle is often more likely to cause static lines for people who squint a lot or have sun damaged skin.

Muscle relaxing anti-wrinkle injections can improve facial symmetry to the brows when uneven. Some patients can achieve a subtle chemical brow lift, when this area is treated.

Your consultation includes a full facial assessment covering the four pillars of skin health, facial structure, proportions and ageing. You'll leave with a detailed treatment plan designed around your goals. We allow 30–45 minutes for new patients.

The masseter muscle is used for chewing and if overactive, can cause teeth grinding. This muscle can cause the appearance of a square jaw, and whilst this may be appealing to the male face, many woman are seeking a softer more feminine look. With the use of anti-wrinkle treatments we can reduce the bulk of this muscle and in turn reduce the appearance of the a square jaw, giving the face a more oval appearance. This treatment may also reduce the severity of teeth grinding.

FAQ’s
How long does it take to work?
Botulinum Toxin starts to work to decrease the muscle movement from 2 days to 2 weeks. We always recommend assessing a treatment after the full 2 weeks. Sometime if there is still movement a higher dose may be required and this can be added at this point.
What are potentially side effects and how can they be prevented?
The most common side effects are bruising or swelling at the injection points. Occasionally a Ptosis or drooping eye may occur or another muscle may be effected. The incidence of this occurring is increased if patients do not follow the aftercare instructions. Anything that could potentially move the medication into the wrong muscle may have this effect. This includes having facials, massages, waxing, wearing tight brimmed hats, lying on face, doing heavy exercise too close to the procedure. We will guide you through what is appropriate and give you detailed aftercare instructions suited to your individual treatment.
What is it and How does Bont-A work?
Anti wrinkle injections use Bont-A. This temporarily relaxes muscles by blocking the release of chemicals involved in a normal muscle contraction (acetylcholine). This relaxation improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that are directly associated with muscle movement (dynamic lines). Although the Bont-A does not directly treat static lines (lines at rest), it does minimise the repetitive wrinkle creasing, which can indirectly over time soften static lines.
What areas can be treated?
Common areas that we treat are the middle frown lines - number 11s (Glabella), horizontal forehead lines (Frontalis) and the crows feet near the eyes (Orbicularis Oculi). Some other treatment areas include Gummy Smile, Bunny Lines, Chin Dimples, Lip Flip, Jaw slimming, Masseters and underarm area for Hyperhidrosis.
